Waiter

JOB POSITION:  WAITER
REPORTS TO:     GENERAL MANAGER

The primary responsibilities of a waiter is to exemplify uncompromising hospitality, providing our guests with the finest food and beverages, accompanied by courteous and efficient service to guests throughout their dining experience.

JOB DUTIES

  • Attend mandatory pre-shift briefing (line-up) before service
  • Arrive to work on time for shift
  • Ensure that tables are set to standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform while working
  • Present menus to customers and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request
  • Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
  • Ensure orders are delivered on time
  • Ensure food presentation is up to par before serving it
  • Serve food and/or beverages to guests; prepare and serve speciality dishes at tables if required
  • Assure needs of guests are continually being met in a courteous and professional manner throughout the duration of their visit
  • Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
  • Check customers’ personal identification in order to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times
  • Prepare bills, present & accept payment and provide change or credit card receipt. Follow appropriate accounting procedures for closing cheques.
  • Keep wait stations clean, set up and take down station appropriately
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to kitchen for cleaning
  • May be asked to perform side work such as the following: stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens,
  • Attend mandatory food and beverage classes
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fluent English speaker
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in hotels or restaurants
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly
  • Ability to display warmth and hospitality
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Exerting up to 25 kgs of force occasionally, and/or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object
  • Knowledge of Tevalis or any POS system a plus
